throttle trim switch on a 2000 Volvo penta sx

the throttle trim switch is stuck in the down position so I got a conversion kit that comes with the switch and the handle, the problem is I can't get the old handle off so I can swap it out. I've seen pictures of similar ones that say there is a Allen screw you take out to get the handle off but I can't see one no matter what position the throttle is in. some help would be greatly appreciated

Going to need a pic of what your looking at to give someone who might know what your working on.

I'll go out on a limb and guess you are dealing with a OMC side mount throttle control?
Does it look like this?
If so, the black power cable you see in the image below often crosses in front of where the allen screw is. If you can slide the cable carefully to the side, looking from 6 o'clock position up, you should be able to get access to the screw via a slot in the bottom of the throttle control arm.
