Throttle wiring

I am putting my last project back together and have a quick question.

The wiring that comes from the Quicksilver throttle has a few wires with no home. The purple wire and gray wire go to the tach and volt meter but there is a brown and a lighter brown wire that have no home. They are not powered with 12v when the switch is turned on. If I ground one the buzzer goes off (key on) but not sure if it has any other purpose.

Any ideas?

Re: Throttle wiring

The tan (light brown) goes to the alarm horn. The brown is not used.

Ahh.. thank you sir.

When I touched the tan to ground I did get an alarm when the ignition was on, however the alarm was weak as I doubt its been used in years. This alarm is inside the Quicksilver throttle.

So just ground the tan wire?

Re: Throttle wiring

No, it does not go to ground. There should be another tan wire in the harness that it should be spliced to. This wire goes back to the temp sensor in the motor. If the motor overheats, it creates a ground making the horn sound. A weak sounding horn can be due to bad/corroded connections or a faulty horn.
