Let say once your motor is prop right at WOT, What is best way to run it - should we run the motor all time at WOT with boat planning or it is OK to run at 1/2 or 3/4 of throttle ? Here I am talking with a 75 HP motor.

Thanks

Smoky

Re: Throttle ?

I like to run mine at a decent cruise, somewhere in the 1/2 to 3/4 throttle range. You could run at WOT all the time, but you'd burn a lot of fuel and accelerate wear on the engine.

Re: Throttle ?

Good cruise...4000RPM......best economy....3500RPM.
Just general rule for 2 stroke. :)

Re: Throttle ?

Rule of thumb I heard many years ago is WOT less 10% for max performance & economy.

Re: Throttle ?

I can assure you 5000 RPM is NOT best economy, based on 5500 WOT.
Ask JB, Dhadly, or Joe Reeves

Re: Throttle ?

The only time 3500-4000 would hurt your "Engine", (motor is electrical term), is when the throttle plates are fully open at that rpm-lugging, if you will. So, if you can turn the recommended WOT, pulling back to 3500-4000RPM would also be closing the throttle plates-not pulling down, just slowing down. :)
