When you install a new thru hull livewell pump, how hard do you torque the lock nut down with your sealant or silicone?
the threaded tube and nut are just plastic.
is it to be torqued just past hand tight, and allow the silicone to lock the nut?

Just tighten it down hand tight, don't try to keep a little gap for some extra 4200

4200 is fine for that. 5200 is more permeant, if the thru hull ever needs to come out, 5200 is a bear to remove. The 4200 stays put, but easier to remove in the future.

What's better 4200 or 5200?
Better at what?

The sealing properties of each product is the same. The difference is the adhesive strength.

4200 is a medium strength adhesive. 5200 is a high strength adhesive.

Primary function is a sealer, part will need replaced in the future use, 4200.

Primary function is a glue, permanent installation of part, use 5200
