Thru-hull question??

I have a thru-hull that does let water come into the mounting section of my boat. That water does not actually leak inside the bost just in the back part (see picture. I circled were its mounted). It seems that it let's water flow freely in and out. Is there any terrible risks with this as it does not leak into the bost itself? If it is an issue what is the best route to resolve this. I have my mph and transducer wire feeding through it. Thank you

The "back part" as you call it is actually the Splash Well.

The "thru hull" is splash well drain.

Splash well drains typically have a scupper that acts as a one-way valve. Water can flow out but not in.

A non-functioning splash well is only a problem if you take on more water than the drains can accommodate. ;)

Scuppers don't work so well with cables stuck thru the drain. I suggest you find a different place to run your cables. Install new scuppers if they are missing. Replace if the rubber valve if the rubber has gotten hard.
