Guys
Trying to get a thru hull transducer for the above. I find that the transom mounted is difficult to maintain when the boat is kept in the water as the transducer paint is a gimmick. Someone had mentioned that the transom mounted transducer could be epoxied in the bilge area . Any one knows ?

Also can I run the transducer cable through the hole with the other cables and power wires or will this cause interference? I am trying to cut down on the number of holes I put in the transom. (outboard motor on gil bracket)..

Thanks

Providing your boat is NOT cored hull construction you can easily epoxy the transducer inside the boat. Look for a flat spot. Your return will deminish quite a bit especially with the older models. If it is cored it can be done by digging out the core material and fill with solid epoxy then mount transducer.
The other option is leave the transducer where it is and paint it with latex bottom paint on the transducer face, then every once in a while hit it with a light scrub pad to clean.

Thanks for that input.. I will try the epoxy route and see what happens. Our water is so potent no paint will last before the barnacles come.. I will look around in the meantime for a reasonable priced sounder with a thru hull Transducer. The L 365 is obsolete anyway..

Yes it is getting a bit old now. Raymarines new sounders are resonable and have a really good bottom return. Garmin has also surprised me on the quality verses cost.
