Replacing all my fish box & bilge hoses. Looking at the thru hulls looks like now would be a good time to replace them too. Which sealant would be approiate to use 3M 4200 or 4000 and do the metal thru hulls last longer than the plastic type?

Re: Thru Hull

The 3M 4200 is fine for sealing these.....I to like the brass or stainless fittings, but I've seen the plastic ones that are 20+ years old and still working fine. So it' really one of those "how much do I want to spend" thing.

Re: Thru Hull

any thru hull fitting is usually considered a permanant fitting.....this means 5200, but 4200 will be fine.

cheers
