thrust washer question

I purchased a used turbo prop for my 92 johnson 175. I was running a renagade bass on it when I went to put the new prop on the thrust washer is to big to go into the recess on the prop and it will not go on all the way. Is this the wrong prop or do I need a different washer. If so what kind of washer do I need. Thanks for your help
