it must be my lucky day. i started traceing wires from kill switch and found had power to rectifier butt wires going to stador were grounded out. so i took rect. loose from engine body now motor purrs. what will i find after i replase rect.? as of now its laying to the side of engine not grounded butt running. is it posibel the rectifier grounded out between termn. or you think stater is bad. dont have meter but getting one.

If the engine is running then the trigger, stator, switchbox and coils are all ok. Putting the kiil wire to a 12 volt wire will not have done any damage, because with the engine running the kill wire has about 400 volts on it. 12 volts would look close enough to ground for the switch box to 'think' you wanted to stop the engine. When you get your meter check the output of the rectifier, If it's only at battery voltage, replace it.

Chris.........
