thunderbolt 500 Stalls

I have a thunderbolt 500, don't really know the year. Serial # 3482148. The problem doesn't happen alot, just everynow and then. When I start up in the water, after running for a while,I'll put into gear to take off, and it will die. It will do this about 3 to 4 times before actually getting up and going. I just got the boat recently. It was a hand me down from my father. He just had carb. work done. Like i said before, it doesn't happen alot, and when it gets up and goes, you could never tell anything was wrong. <br /><br /><br /> Thanks Jeremy

Jeremy,<br /><br />Sounds like the idle mixtures are set just a tad too lean. The year of the motor is 1973.<br /><br />Chris..............

I'm guessing the adjustments are on the carbs. Do I adjust the top screw or both(bottom and top). Thanks for the Info. Jeremy

2 carbs, one mixture screw on each.

helow mine has done that every now and then. seems like i had to reprime bulb or keep trying to start 2 or 3 times. if all elese failes next time see if bulb needs reprimed.

My Thunderbolt was doing the same thing, just had to turn the Idle up a little. Worked fine since.
