Thunderbolt IV Ignition

As I'm replacing the sensor in the distributor, I notice the rotor comes off the shaft easily. My understanding is the rotor should fit very tight on the shaft. Should I just use LocTite when I reinstall it?

You're supposed to but a lot of members have gotten away without using any blue loctite in the past. Mercruisers theory is the rotor may lift up at high RPM and hit the top of the cap thus reducing the required rotor to cap gap specifications.
