Hello, new to forum and purchased boat recently. Looking to secure for information on the actual boat right now so I can research it during the winter months for work in the spring.

HIN: ZTH701211586

I was told it was a 1989 Thundercraft 18'. It is a bow rider and here is a picture of an identical boat someone listed for sale.

Looking forward to picking your brains

Its a 30yr old boat, its current condition is more important then any info provided by a model.

What info are you hoping to find?

That HIN # is invalid, ZTH is for Thundercraft, but there's an error in the rest of the HIN. Seems to be correct format and 12digits...

The last two digits should be the year it was built , so in your case it's a 1986 .not 1989

well, based on the HIN, you were told wrong....

what does the title say it is. without a title it may be the yard-planter version.

With the above link it shows they only made one 18' model in 1986 and that was the 180 LS Legacy

Thanks mr88, very helpful. I did realize the ZTH was designated to Thundercraft but failed to realize the 86 at the tail end of the HIN was the manufactured year. This may assist me in identifying the engine model as well.

jbcurt - I plan on doing alot of work to the boat to customize it to my liking. Knowing the proper year and model may assist me with my shopping list. Maybe it wont. But information is knowledge in my eyes

Scott - I have no title sir. I picked it up cheap. Fortunately, in Canada you can register and the boat with a Bill of Sale, and I'd like to cover all my bases to do just that. Additionally, I'd like to learn and research as much as I can about this boat / engine so I can start planning now for work come spring.

I am from Canada as well and have purchased boats with no title. For what ever reason we do not have to jump through the hoops the Americans do, thank goodness.

I think as long as it is not registered as stolen you are good to go....
