I have a 1975 6 hp evinrude it runs good but you have to hold a little pressure on handle for it to run at idle speed if you let go it rolls over to stop and shuts off. is there a way to adjust the handle to prevent this? Thank you for help
They used to have an idle stop screw on your type of mtr and I looked at the parts break down of your mtr and can't find one. Maybe somebody else will chime in.
Boatinfo - 1971-1989 Evinrude Service manual
According to service manual there is a nylon idle adjustment screw on the portside of the engine and is exposed outside of the shroud .
it does idle,, it just the tiller turns by itself to stop position and cuts engine off what i was asking is if there was a way to adjust the tiller tension to keep it from turning by itself?
