What would be a better motor for 16 ft aluminum tiller? Mercury Yami E tec Suzuki. I was thinking 40 to 60 hp.

It's a personal choice. Ford, Chevy, Gillette, Schick, Burger King, Mac Donalds. Some would recommend OB's that are comfy, familiar with. All have tech issues, some more, some less. The engine that requires no service nor spare parts has not been invented yet

I like the Etec A direct injection 2 stroke that meets or exceeds all CARB requirements.
As I understand it they have no service requirements for 3 years or 300 hours. No break in period.
And fewer and less complicated service intervals. There are extensive performance reports at the Etec site.
You can specify brand, material, etc.be sure to click "submit" after making your selections.
They have 25,30,40,50,and 60 hp motors that probably fall within your range.look for "inline motors"
I think there is a 25 test on a 16 ft bare utility that makes 31 mph.

check your rating, some of the 16' boats are rated at only 40hp with a tiller. other than that, if you are at 40hp and below, you pretty much have tohatsu, rebranded tohatsu's (Mercury, Nissan, etc) and the afore mentione e-tec
