Picked up a 6 Chrysler that was used twice and has been sitting for years; it looks new. Replaced the impeller (really bad from sitting), one coil (with an OMC), and condensers. 'Cleaned' the carb. which was spotless. It runs beautifully at high speed and I 'fine' tuned the idle. It runs nice and slow and than all of sudden it will stall. It's not easy to start all the time though it seems to start fairly easy when it's been run. I'm not familiar with Tillitsons but anyway I'm trying to think what I may have done wrong. One concern is the bowl. Appears you can mount in anywhere in the 360 degrees. I failed to notice where it was when it came off. There is a 'high spot' on the bottom of the bowl and I'm not sure if I mounted it in the correct position. Also, I noticed on occasion fuel coming out of the small opening at the bottom (front) of the intake. What does that small opening do and should any fuel come out of there at any time (It doesn't when it's running)? I'm thinking that the float is the source of my problems but... Any hints on the carburetor would be appreciated since it's the first time I've had a chance to mess up something I never worked on before. If it wasn't such a nice motor I'd be sticking with the OMC's. Thanks!

If your tillitson carb has the fuel pump built into the bottom, do your self a favour and replace it with a mikuni.

(redid my sled engine with a mikuni and what a difference, fuel milage, power, no dead spots, IT was worth it!)
