Does anyone have any idea how to connect the tilt and trim guage? I looked at the wiring diagrams in the manuals but can't see anything. Please just give me an indication of what to do, then I can figure it out.

My boat previously did not have a gauge

Boat is 5.0 merc with Alpha 1 gen 2

Thanks

Brown wire with white stripe goes to trim gauge. Hook one wire of the sender to the brown white, the other to ground and adjust as needed.

Put drive all the way down, turn key to run and adjust sender to show full down.

Re: Tilt and trim gauge

sorry to jump in on this, I am having a similar issue. My I have 4 wires coming out of my trim gauge . Pink black green orange, plus the light wires. How would you wire this gauge for a single wire system . I have a newer optimax 125 2011. Can I make this work with a single wire from the optimax?

Welcome to iboats. You need to start a new thread of your own, not post on someone elses thread. You should also post in the Mercury Outboard forum, this it the Mercruiser IO forum. Completely different systems.

Re: Tilt and trim gauge

The gauge has 3 connections. Power, ground, sender.

Connect the purple wire under the dash to the + terminal on the gauge. Connect any ground wire to the -, and the brown/white in the instrument loom gets connected to the S terminal...

The sender at the transom end has 2 black wires. At the back of the engine you'll find a pair of bullet connectors, one on a black wire, the other on a brown/white wire. Connect either of the black wires from the sender to each of the 2 bullet connectors, then adjust the sender (on the outside of the boat) as Don said.

Chris, I have 6 wires coming out of the trim gauge,. Black and Blue for light, then balck pink green and orange for the trim gauge, . I only have one wire as steted above from the motor. I may need a new gauge.
