Tilt and Trim Switch Problems

I have a 175 4.2 mericrusier with an Alpha 1 drive. My problem with the Tilt and Trim is this. The down position with the switch operates fine. However when I attempt to raise my stern drive the up position does not work. I am forced to use the trailer switch to raise the outdrive and that sometimes takes more than five to ten minutes. Is there a problem with a bad T and T switch? please help..Thanks

If the stern switch takes 5-10 mins, then it's more than just a switch problem. I'd do a voltage and resistance check at the switches. Check and clean all the connections.<br /><br />Run a couple of jumper wires from the battery to the contacts on the tilt motor. If it still takes 5 mins to raise the motor, that would pretty much eliminate wiring and switches.<br /><br />You hold the switch for ten minutes?
