We are rewiring our OMC cobra and trying to fix a very sloppy job done when an "86 tilt/trim was put in a "90. We have added the second selinoid which was left off but now we are unsure which of the three wires coming from the tilt/trim is the ground.... blue/black/green??? Wiring diagram in OMC book shows blue and some helpful people here have told me blue up, green down and black ground. The orginal set up had a connector which is no longer there so wiring diagram doesn't help but shows orginally as the trim/tilt motor three wires go into connector and then out of connector to grn/wht to down solenoid............blu/wht to up solenoid and I am guessing blk to ground. How do I wire without connector? I am learning a lot about wiring today.......thanks for all your help.

Cut the connector off and straight wire with butt splices.

Re: tilt and trim wiring

Thanks to all who helped. We have that trim and tilt working really great........fast up and down. Amazing how much difference spending a little time doing it right does!! Plus a lot cheaper!!

Re: tilt and trim wiring

Not to mention reliable and easier to repair if it fails in the future.
