Has anyone had any experience with tilt assist evinrude outboards? I haven't heard of this until now. I found a 1996 40hp evinrude with this feature. I understand there is a lever that you push down then you can lock the engine angle at a given point by pushing the lever back up. You have to manually move the motor. The person selling says this can be done by pushing down on the tiller handle at slow speeds with relative ease. The motor is about a 5 hour drive from me, so I can't try it out myself. The pictures look great though. Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Re: tilt assist vs. power T&T

That motor has what is called "Tilt Assist" to aid in the lifting of the motor to tilt it up. It basically consists of a shock absorber attached to the lower unit that aids in lifting the motor by applying upward pressuer when you release the motor lever. I understand it works well until it breaks( The Shock that is) and then it is very expensive to replace. That's when you go for the T&T unit by CMC.

CMC
