So I posted in another thread that I try to not mess with the worm screw in the tilt shaft because I was afraid of not getting the retaining ring back on well enough and losing the plug. Jinxed it. Of course after leaving the lake I was putting the motor down to store it and the plug shot 3 houses down the road. So I have invested in a worm retaining kit. Looks straight forward enough to install. Only question is should I use the retaining ring with it still? The instructions do not show it used, but don't see how it could hurt to keep it there. Anyone else have one of these on theirs? And if so, does yours have the retaining ring still there?
