Tilt Lock?

I have a 1973 Larson Shark with a Chrysler (Magnapower?) Ignition 105 Motor.

I just bought the boat and had it serviced. I took her out for the first time yesterday and when in reverse the motor comes up out of the water and then slams down when I let off.

I seems like the force of the prop keeps her down when going forward.

Any suggestions? Am I missing something that should prevent this from happening?

Thanks for the help.

Re: Tilt Lock?

There should be a tilt lock lever at front of cowling towards bottom. When on trailer, lift up motor and trace back from tilt lock lever to the pin motor rests on. There is a lock that should engage on pin.
The 55hp Chrysler that me and a buddie owns had a peice broke on tilt lock also.

Re: Tilt Lock?

Look at the post swapping manual tilt for power. I have a couple of photos there.
