Tilt mechanism 82 Johnson 7.5 hp

This is a basic question. I just bought this motor and I cannot seem to find how the tilt lock works or if there is even a tilt lock mechanism on this motor. Sorry for the basic question - I do not have a lot of experience with outboards.

hi.
in mounting brackets is a black lever, on the left side, with letters: RUN, turning 180 deg you will see letters LIFT.

Thank you for your reply - I had used that lever and it will release the lock to lift the motor, but it will not remain locked in the lifted position - is the another lever to lock and hold the motor in the lift position or some type of tension adjustment that should allow it to remain up?

try to lock in lift position.
its easy motor

Thanks Again,
I believe I had tried that and the lever did not want to turn in the lift position - I actually took the motor in to the cottage today - I will give it a try next weekend.

My 7.5 is locked in the down position the black lever does not help Help please
