Tilt noise

Hi.

I have a new Yamaha F115. The tilt makes a loud and irritating noise. This happens only when tilting upwards, and the noise disappers after leaving the initial tilt-area (trim). It sounds bad - like cutting in glas with a glas-cutter. I had just the same noise on my old engine (Suzuki), and it functioned perfect for 10 years without doing anything, so I don't believe this is a serious malfuntion. But it's irritating - specially on a brand new engine. Could it be fixed?

Re: Tilt noise

try some water proof grease on the trim pin tips and the wear pads.

Re: Tilt noise

I have never heard a quiet hydraulic pump. They all make noise. It was less noticable before because outboard motors were louder before. With modern 4-strokes, even the tiniest noise is now noticable.

Re: Tilt noise

Like Rodbolt says, it's most probably the push pins screetching on the wear pads. Mine used to screetch/squeel unitl I put some grease on the pads - no more noise. i just grab some excess off the tilt tube greese nipple.

David
