Re: Tilt problem

Hmmmm, Pump just stops running. Could be several things. The outboard motor may be binding. Does the pump sound like it's bogging down? I mean does the pump sound like it's slowing down till it just quits. It could be a bent cylinder shaft too. Or does the pump just shut off like someone killed the switch. How is your battery condition. Low battery voltage can cause the pump to bog down too. If the pump just quits suddenly it could be a bad connection, a connection that opens when the motor is raised due to the motor tilting and the cables bending causing the connection to open, but if that happens it probably wouldn't go back down. Why don't you try to jump across the two main terminals on the up selniod after the trim motor stops and see it it will raise the rest of the way up. I'm not sure if you have some type of a limit switch on this set up or not. I'm not that familure with this pump. Just a few things to think about.

Good luck :)

Re: Tilt problem

Thanks for all the ideas....battery is fine....goes half way with the engine running also...I can pick the drive up manually...It's full of oil.... I found two limit switches....and two "bare" wires coming out of one of them..I'll fix that and let you know...

Re: Tilt problem

Took awhile but I found the problem...the up & down switches(buttons) on the throttle/shift lever were not making contact all the time. Just cleaned up the contacts...works fine now.

Re: Tilt problem

How did you get the switch off/out of the throttle lever to clean it ?? I may have a similar problem (among others)
