Ok so i have now sent my tilt and trim motor to rritt to be rebuilt however i have a new question. All i sent him was the motor and resivoir left the valve body attached to the lines and zipped tied them to my motor to keep them safe from bending hopefully. However the weather here is suppose to be beautiful all week long and i am longing for the lake.

Would it be ok to perhaps put a zip lock style bag over the valve body duct tape around the bottom and leave the zip ties to the lines and motor. Would that keep it safe? Or would it just be alot better to leave well enough alone and stay on the shore? I just dont want to mess anything up that isnt already messed up and wasnt sure if this is a viable idea.

The wife is going clothes shopping thursday night and i really have no desire to sit at the house alone nor do i want to go shopping with her.

Re: Tilt question

Leave your boat at home. Take a lawn chair and a couple of beverages and go sit on the docks at the launch ramp to watch the shenanigans. Better yet, take your fishing pole and fish off of the launch ramp :)

Honestly, I don't know if you could hurt anything or not, but I would be tempted to not take the boat out but just go enjoy a quiet evening at the ramp. Perhaps you could assist a few "new" boaters in the proper etiquette.

Re: Tilt question

Every tilt/trim I have seen goes under water when the boat slows or a wake comes up the back. A baggie, duct tape, and zip ties will not be enough to keep water out of the pump. I know it is difficult but leave the boat on the trailer until you get the motor back unless it is easy to remove the complete tilt assembly. You already had enough trouble--Don't beg for more.
