I got to the landing and tried to tilt up, and the switch corroded completely out. It worked fine the day before. So I happened to have an extra toggle switch, but that didn't work. I stripped the wires back and touched the hot and blue. nothing. Checked the volts, 1.7 VDC. So i went to the tilt switch on the motor that was bypassed. Stripped those out and touched them together and made it work. Just had to take the cowling off to trim it every time. I've got 12 VDC on the power to the motor switch, that switch is broken too.

Motor is an Evinrude 140 hp, 90s something. I just got the boat and that was the first voyage

sounds like faulty/old/corroded/bad/broken wiring and switches. Remove and re-run the circuits as applicable. Follow your wiring to the source as well and check for fuses running power to switches at the helm.

Congratulation on your first voyage. Sounds like it went smooth other than the trim issue. Lots of good trim references on how to re-wire / fix yours, but it sounds like you already have the proper understanding. Good luck, come back and tell us what you did to fix this or if you need help.

I have not found that problem yet. I tried looking at the gauges for the gas and everything else. Nothing is working. The rpm gauge works, or moves. I don't really know how many rpms its really running. The gas gauge doesn't do anything. I grounded the sensor wire at the tank and it jumped to full. I read that the float may be bad, if that is the case I am screwed. It seems the tank was installed wrong or it shifted. The float is a few inches away from my access hole. I'll have to take the t top and the center console out to get to it. Is it worth it?
