the 2coils are spliced together with a hot. the other 2 big terminals have blue and green wires. I checked them to ground. Do you check the moter by running 12V to the blue and green then revers fore diffrent direction? there is also a sensor with 2 wires going into the moter it was bolted to engin bracket what is this ? how doI remove the top wrist of the ram I cant get the pin out? I asume it should just push out with a drift pin and hammer but it wont.

Putting 12vdc+ to the blue wire runs the pump in the "up" direction. 12vdc+ to the green wire runs the pump in the "down" direction. The motor grounds through the mounting bolts.

You need to get yourself a repair manual.

c/6
Hooty

Re: tilt/trim 175mariner 1989

Back in March of 2003 I had to take the motor off of my titl/trim. I have a 1996 Merc 200 EFI, but I believe it is the same. Yeah, I had to beat the pin with everything I had to get it out. I guess the pin can really get in a bind sometimes. The problem I had was the electric motor had power, but would not spin. I was able to fix mine by taking the electric motor apart and sanding the tarnish off of the brushes and then sanding the surface they ride on. A mechanic wanted $400.00 to put a new one on. Cost me less than ten bucks for the brake cleaner and sandpaper. The trim is still working fine and it has been almost a year now, since I fixed it.
