alright well i deided to take the boat out last week tested everything before i went and it all worked fine. I launched my boat trimed the motor down started it up and started going. i got up to about 25 mph and tried to use the trim and the motor would not budge so i stoped the boat and to my surprise my motor was trimmed all the way down and would not go back up. u cant even pull it up!. <- this made for a fun time getting it out of the lake! i can still hear the motor running when i press the up and down buttons on trim. it sounds normal for a while then kinda sounds like its grinding? i had to pull the hydrolic line cylinder to get the motor up to get it home. any ideas what could be going on? water leak in the system? or needs mor hydrolic fluid? and how would i go about filling the fluid back up.

Re: tilt/trim fail

Terms, It may help with replies if you list engine size, year manufactured, serial # and Model #. Pictures are also appreciated by those Experts here(not me/still learning) There are many threads on here ref. Tilt/Trims motors on Force Engines, read through those as you await reply. I know there are two relays on my 1999 90 hp Force OB. One controls up, one controls down. When mine was acting up (wouldn't go down only up), I swapped the two relays and then it wouldn't go up, only down. Thus telling me my relay was bad. This fixed my problem.....Make sure you get proper relay. I also have heard that a weak or bad battery will have an affect. Sorry I couldn't be more specific or helpful. I know how frustrating it can be waiting on replies from the experts. Good luck my Friend :)

i doubt it would be the relays since the motor still runs in both directions. just nothing happens.

Unfortunately I agree with you, just offering what little personal knowledge I have with the issue. There are guys on this site who will help you, just a matter of waiting on replies That's the hardest part

Re: tilt/trim fail

I too am not expert but, has your motor when tilted up go bleed down slowly? If so, the trim/tilt pump could have check valve failure in the valve body. Maybe RRitt will reply since he is the T/T guru. You buy the repair kit and he'll put it together.

Hope this helps,
Tom

Re: tilt/trim fail

nope the trim unit was solid no leak down or anything. luckfully i have an extra pump from the same unit but really dont want to swap them out if i dont have to. going to pick to boat up tomorrow from the inlaws and just want to know what i can do narrow the problem down.
