Hey guys. I'm having a trim issue I'd like to get some feedback on if I could. I'll lay out every thing I know in a list...
Okay, those are the symptoms. The only other thing of note is that this motor pushed through the transom of the boat it was sitting on and the bottom hydraulic line that goes from the middle cylinder to the bottom of the trim unit got pretty badly crushed (http://www.crowleymarine.com/brp_parts/diagrams/33331.cfm -- part 39). I took it off and could blow through it just fine, but is there any way it being a bit crushed could affect that middle cylinder? Otherwise any ideas of what to look at with no noticeable external leaks?
Thanks,
Tim
- This is a late 70's/early 80's trim...with the three hydraulic cylinders.
- Hasn't been used for 5 years or so...was functional at that time.
- Functional except for motor, which I had buggered up the top cover of and thus it leaked and after sitting 5 years needed replaced.
- Replaced motor with used motor that spins both directions fine.
- No huge noticeable leaks. I'm sure there are leaks around the cylinders...there has been for many years...but like I said nothing huge...
- The smaller trim cylinders will trim the motor up/down somewhat normally...no quite right, but somewhat functional.
- The middle cylinder doesn't seem to be doing anything at all. Once it gets out of the trim range it stops moving...
- I can actually lift the motor with the bleed screw in and it will settle back down to the trim cylinders when let go. Like I said as if no pressure is on the middle cylinder....but no noticeable leaks...
