I have a general question for you all. The manual for for my 91 evinrude 150gleis contradicts itself as far as what lube to use in the trim reservoir . on pages 9-16 and 9-34 under routine inspections it says OMC power trim/tilt and power steering fluid or GM dextronII. However, on page 1-11 it says to use hi-vis gearcase lube in the power trim/tilt res...

Which is correct? The fluid in the res. is "brownish" in color now and I really don't want to mix if I can avoid it. By just shaking the bottles of fluids, the pt/t fluid is obviously thinner than "gearlube". Does anyone have any suggestions? or possibly the color of OMC pt/t fluid.
Any help is greatly appreciated
Ron

Re: tilt/trim lube

Walley World sells power trim/tilt fluid or you can use power steering fluid or the Auto transmission fluid never hear of using gearcase lube in PT systems.

Re: tilt/trim lube

Will Bark is correct.
Just double checked the manual for my J150EXECD and they recommend OMC Power Tilt/Trim and Power Steering Fluid(one product). They also stated that GM Dextron II automatic transmission fluid is an acceptable substitute.
