tilt trim motor

I just took my tilt trim motor apart that I have never used because I was told it was bad. Ive never had the tilt trim on my engine. It looked ok when I pulled it apart but needed to be cleaned. Now that its all back together how do I test it to make sure its good before i put it on my engine? Any help would be appreciated.

has to be filled with fluid. need more info, 2 or 3 wire motor.

Its a 3 wire motor. Its off of a 1976 115 hp johnson.
