Tilt& Trim Oil

My tilt and trim will not go up or down on my 88' Johnson 90HP. I can hear the motor but it doesn't move. I think it is out of fluid. My question is what kind of fluid do I put in. I have been told hydraulic, SAE 30 Motor Oil and I have been told tranny fluid. Can someone please give me some info on this.

Straight hydraulic fluid is considered the best, if you can find it. Otherwise, use the OMC/BRP fluid from your dealer. Dextron ATF is listed as a possible substitute in the manuals

It's best not to mix the fluids, so find out what's in there.
