Hi guys,
I am not onto replacing the tilt and trim on my Mercury.
The piston arm ended up snapping. I needed help or advice on how to remove the pin at the top to take off the broken part of the piston.
This is a 2007 Mercury 25hp EFI 4stroke serial #: 0R181035

When looking at the Mercury website and diagram these does not seem to be a lock pin or anything holding the pin in other than the bushings on either side. I have soaked in WD40 (I did not have PB blaster) After letting sit I have tried to hammer it out with a punch and a sledge. I guess my next step is heat? anyone have any ideas. am I missing anything?
On the right side of the motor it seems the pin has a head on it and the other nothing so that seems the way it should be banged out

Help me out here I need to get this out.

Have not removed one of these but looking at the parts I believe the nut and broken rod needs to be unscrewed. There are no keeps to keep the pin from sliding out so the rod should just screw up inside the pin and this is what keeps the pin centered.
