Tilt trim problems

I have a problem with my tilt trim unit on my 120 force that I can?t figure out. I just had the motor and cylinder rebuilt. This unit has 3 wires a blue one, a green one, and a black one. There are two solenoids that these wires go to. The black is my ground, the green goes to one solenoid and the blue goes to the other. My problem is with everything in its place I only have the down trim. I have three trim switches on the boat and it?s the same on all three.

Now to my process of elimination to see if I had a bad solenoid I switched the two. My thinking is I should now have up trim and not down. Well I still only have down trim. This tells me my solenoid is not bad. I then did a direct wire to the battery to make sure my trim motor works in both directions and it does. I don?t know what to look for next.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what my problem might be?

Thanks

Re: Tilt trim problems

bypass the solenoids.
Black = common ground
only blue or green should be hot, never both hot at same time. That is a short & will burn something out. Connect blue to 12V and see if system goes up. Then leave blue open and connect green to 12v. If system works fine in both directions then it is a wiring or solenoid problem. If it only works in one direction then it is a motor problem.

Re: Tilt trim problems

Thanks for the reply; I found I had a loose wire in the switch at the motor.
