have read through the forum and can't seem to find an answer to my questions or can't seem to put it together

i am looking at mid 80's 90hp Evinrude and being told that the "electric control" for the hydrolic power tilt and trim is out.

how can i tell what is broken? are the parts still available? is all tilt/trim hydraulic/electric? what are the pitfalls to buying something not working?

any input would be greatly appreciated

Re: tilt trim question

If you know how to use a multimeter you can figure out where the problem is. It could be a bad switch or a short in the harness. Relays known to go bad. I would diagnose problem not divulge what is wrong and make offer if that is the only issue (compression test, doesn't overheat, drop gear oil)

This is for a 1987 90HP. You can find your model here.

T&T control - Relays (2) could be bad. Part #46 I would make sure that there is power coming out of this box before I buy new motor. 2 relays cost about $25 (aftermarket) and new motor about $140.

T&T motor - part #28.
