Tilt / trim reservoir leaking oil . Please help!!!

I just bought a used 17' 1999 I/O . The boat runs good but only one problem : anytime after i took it out for a ride , i noticed that oil is leaked around the trim and tilt 's reservoir tank . Can anyone tell me what cause it? My tilt system is working great. There is a litle hole on top of the reservoir cap ,i think it suppose to be there.Maybe the oil leaking from that hole or the gap between the reservoir and the pump motor(?) that sit on top of it ( i look and it seems there isn't a gasket or anything there ). I'm pretty sure i'm using the right fluid for tilt and trimming system. Please help on fixing that leak. Thank you in advance. Tim.

Tim if the resevoir was over filled oil could have come out of the vent hole in the cap.tilt all the way down and check fluid level should be marked on resvoir .when tilted down should be at max level ,otherwise there is a o ring that conects pump to resevoir ,check hoses good luck jim p.s check manual but my oildine pump uses 10w-40w motor oil

Thanks a lot for your help Jim. Last time when i filled the reservoir the trim is actually all the way up.Like you said i should tilt all the way down which i did the opposite way , so the oil level raise and came out of the vent hole in the cap. The oil level is actually lower now so next time if I take the boat out hopefully this is the case and the oil wouldn't be overfilled and come out the vent.
