remember that blue is sky so that is up wire, green is grass so that is down wire, which means red is your hot wire or power

Re: tilt & trim wiring for a 1976 Evinrude 75 hp

I have a question related to this topic. I have a 1976 85hp Johnson with a single piston tilt & trim unit. I replaced a badly corroded solenoid that controls the tilt & trim unit. I hoped this would cure a problem with the unit since I purchased the boat. The power unit will lower the motor, but when I hit the up button, nothing happend. No clicking, no humming, nothing. A friend told me to check the solenoid, replace it if it looked bad. However, this did not help. Still has no up.
I saw on another post here that the blue & white wire is the UP and the green & white wire is the DOWN. The blue & white wire is hooked up on the solenoid, but the green and white wire is not, and has no provisions for hooking to it. I was told by the previous owner that the tilt worked and I have not changed any of the wiring that is on the boat.
Any ideas?
