tilt/trim

Hi, <br /><br />I'm new to forum so hope you can help. I have a 78, 140hp evinrude with tilt/ trim with 3 wires that does not work. I have access to a tilt/ trim with the 2 wires and everything else is the same. Can the two wire unit be adapted to work?<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />Jim

I believe you must also install a relay system to replace the solenoid.

I installed one on my 1979 235. I bought two potter blumfield (spelling may not be correct) double pole double throw relays If my memory is correct one relay for up and one for down one gets wired +- and the other -+ to reverse the motor install inline fuses from the battery just in case. Good Luck
