The tilt on my on my omc will tilt up but not go down all the time, it is sporatic at best. changed the motor, still having problem

I have a Volvo Penta outdrive that had a similar problem and it was the "DOWN" solenoid that was bad. On mine, the solenoid is actually seperate from the pump/motor assembly, so installing a new pump would have made no difference. You may have a similar problem. Hope this helps......

I have an '87 OMC and had this same problem. It turned out a lead in the gear shifter itself had come loose. Maybe something to check, as it made my trim operate sporadically.
