tilt/trim

the tilt on my mercrusier 120hp is not working. when i push the tilt button all it does it make the humming noise. it all stared by the last time i brought it in i think i was holding the button to long or something and it quit working from there on. any suggestions?

You might try tapping (Not Beating) on the trim motor while some one holds the button. If it starts working, it indicates the motor brushes are hanging or the motor is binding, probably corrosion or rust. Could also be a bad connection causing low voltage to the motor.
