Tilt won't work

Put an older 88hp Johnson on a 98 Aquasport 16' and can't make the tilt motor work.

tell us more… does it buzz, click ,wirl, stays silent, hesitates jams did it ever work on the other boat ?? ….. have you done any voltage checks anywhere, how are you with a volt meter ??

It works if i apply direct power up and down. The switch on the throttle just up, unless i swap wires. I hooked a new switch up to the wires at the throttle, still just up.

Where are you swapping the wires?

It has the typical blue/green wires, only 2 wires from trim motor. A holder with 2 relays attached to motor with green and blue wires coming out.

Out of the relay box on engine.

Have you checked for Continuity between the Trim Switch and the Relay box?

No, how do I do that? I have a good volt/ohm meter.

With the Trim Switch wires unhooked in the Relay Box, attach the Ohm meter to the Common and to the Down wire, Close the Down Switch, and watch the meter

Do you have a Wiring Diagram?

Just the one on the cover of the box, I'll pull one up on the internet and do the continuity check.

Thanks for everyone's help, tracked it back to the switch, anyone know who might have the correct switch? I am looking online and don't find one that looks the same. It's kind of contoured or should I just put one in the dash?

Have you tired a Dealer, they sometimes have the exact one in stock, or will be able to look it up and likely order one

However, before you go buying a switch, you did verify that the Wire is good?
