My 2001 Ranger still has the OEM battery.
Although I am not having any trouble, I think I'm on borrowed time.

I was looking at those 'Optima' batteries.... Anyone have one? Are they worth it? What are the advantages?

I don't have any complaints on the OEM conventional battery... I'd just like to know what others have had good luck with.

The only other battery I've ever used in my other cars is the Sears Die-Hard with no problems.

H.

I had an Optima in my race car. The only reason I see to spend the money is if you are liable to be very rough with it. The Optima's have dry cell so no acid to leak, thats what made it favorable for me as the battery was right behind my seat.

I have Optima in my boat. It’s was expensive, but it has a 1 ½ year free replacement. I had to take mine back after about a year because it would not hold a charge, they replaced it no problems.

Checked my Schwab truck batteries, installed them 10/1999. Not bad.

A couple of years back C.R. rated the pricier Die-Hards tops. I had a Champion last nearly seven years in my Nissan, the OEM lasted three.

Homerr,

A new OEM (Motorcraft) battery is about $60.00 and carries a three year free replacement warranty.

Well; I seem to get a lot of years out of all my vehicles batteries...don't know what I'm doing right.

My '98 Ford still has the original battery.

My Camry's battery lasted 8 years, and the toyota truck did about the same.

When it came time to replace those...I went to Costco...paid about $45.00...replaced it in the parking lot...slammed the hood and drove away.

Both those batteries are stil going strong and like most everything at Costco...if it goes bad...they take it back.

I try to keep things simple when I can.

Thanks for reading...Chuck
