It's time here on the North Coast to winterize the boat. I want to Seafoam the engine, but don't know if I should do it NOW, before going into hybernation for the Winter, or wait until Spring, when I would be doing a tuneup anyway.

Any suggestions?

thanks

If you can sea foam it now then you may as well. Regardless of whether you do it now or not make sure you store the engine with fogging oil, lots of it. You have the same problem where you are as I do here, freeze and thaw, high humidity then cold snaps then warm bits etc etc. Condensation will form. You dont say what kind of engine, carb or injection .

Re: Time to winterize

I've got a 1988 Mariner 135 Marathon, with carb's. I know it needs de-carbonizing, and I plan on fogging it down, along with the Stabil in the gas tank and replacing the lower unit oil. I just thought maybe I should just wait until Spring, de-carbonize when I bring her back to life, and then change the plugs and do the tuneup. Not sure whether the de-carbonizing before storing is a better idea?

I would decarb now. The fogging oil will seep around the rings better and prevent rust.
