As some of ytou may have followed my saga, I started posting when I thought that my boat was overheating. Then it wouldn;t start due to the starter. Well, the starter got fixed so I took it on the river today to see if the overheating problem was just my imagination. Well, for the first 30 minutes I thought that there is no overheating. The boat ran smooth, new prop was making a difference, the temp was right on 175 (middle of my temp gauge).

Right when me and my buddy decided to head back to the ramp, the engine all of a sudden hit 200 degrees and kept goign up. I turned the engine off and opened the back and the motor was steaming a bit. It deffiently was overheating.

Well, could this be the tempermostat that may not function properly after a while? Could it be the impeller? Could it be as somebody said earlier that shavings were stuck in the engine and were showing up after 30-45 min of running? It has been twice now when the boat is running great for 30 minutes and then it it goes crazy and stopps cooling.

Suggestions?

p.s. paddling for 45 min at 90 degrees temperature is no fun.

Thanks.
