I'm in need of a timer base, and dont want to spend the $200 that most are asking for one! The OEM # is: 581949 or the CDI # is: 133-3378 its for a 1980 75hp stinger 3 cyl (Johnson). If someone has a good one on a dead motor, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me have it.....for a good (reasonable) price! Please respond here or a PM. Thanks in advance.

Re: Timer Base

Did you check some of the Salvage yards listed in the Top Secret file at the top of this page? Most are reasonably priced.

Re: Timer Base

Unless you can pick up a used unit for very little money, my advice is to go with the CDI part. Used ignition parts are a gamble and you may find yourself right back where you started, in short order.

I put a CDI timer base in my Johnson 65hp "triple" several years ago. It cost half of what the BRP part (which most likely is a CDI part) goes for. I've not had a lick of problem with it over hundreds of hours of use.
