I needed to replace the distributor on this motor.
Here's the story: 1976ish 115hp Mercury outboard
A service shop took it apart, discovered the problem, couldn't find parts (distributor/rotor assembly) and gave it back to me completely disassembled (I'm talking a box with a broken distributor and a ziplock bag of bolts). I eventually found replacement parts myself, and re-assembled the puzzle. (since I never took it apart it really was a puzzle figuring out where everything went).
Now here's my problem:
What is the correct position of the distributors timing pulley in accordance to the fly-wheel. There are no "3 dots" punched into the flywheel to align the pulley marker to, only a sticker marking the various degrees BTDC and ATDC on the flywheel. What do I align the distributor pulley marker to on the flywheel?
