Force 1987- 85hp- model-856x7b. On an earlier post the person stated that his timing adjuster looked to be on backwards. Looking at mine and it is also on backwards! It would be very hard to do adjustment. This outboard I do not think that it was ever messed with as there are no signs of missing paint or buggered up screws. My question is, do you think that the factory may have done this too stop people from adjusting it? This may be a stupid question, Just wondering what are the odds of two people having them on backwards? Thanks to Jerryjerry05 and Nordin and all those whom have posted, I have this purring like a kitten.

I've never seen one on backwards, but who knows. Sure is a lot easier to adjust the timing if the adjusting screw is pointing away from the motor.

Thanks for answering. Yea, I couldn't believe it as I just read a post about it and took a look at mine. It's also wrong! Looks to be a pain just to turn it around! I think that the factory did it. Oh well. Thank you for your input.

Good Morning all. The post about the timing adjuster being wrong was a post titled " boat falls on it face at WOT." Thanks again everyone.
