I have a '75 merc 650 (3 cyl) with distributor. The timing belt was removed and I'm 99% sure I got it back on in the correct position as I took a picture of its orientation before I removed it. Looking through my manual, I don't see instructions on how to install it so I would be 100% sure. Can anyone offer any assistance?

thanks much.

Re: Timing Belt Alignment

There should be a belt alignment mark on the flywheel, and also a TDC (Top dead center) mark.

Use the TDC mark to get the flywheel in the right place (top cyl is #1), then align the timing pointer to the belt alignment mark.

From there the dist has an alignment mark to match the flywheel position.
