timing ,carb, and idle adjustments 110 mercruiser

hey cats, have the 1965 starcraft,want to adjust timing, and idle screws etc to go to recommended 500-600 rpm @ idle... its now at about 1000. Where do I start? compression and everything else is great... she runs good, but want to get idle within spec for outdrive and trolling. also, should i delete old threads from previous questions, or do you like them to stay on? thanks!

Ayuh,... I guess I'd start with a Timing Light,+ a Screwdriver....

thanks b-man ... I thought i'd start by startin it! i think i got her pretty good, going to set rpm at the dock with her tied off as mentioned in tech info for diy's thread... seriously though thanks for your help!
