That looks like it is a replacement module kit for Thunderbolt V. Merc doesn't publish the timing curves. Initial timing should be set in base mode to 10 degrees BTDC. Does yours have a knock sensor? Are you measuring with a timing tape on harmonic balancer or advance timing light? Measuring the advance in base or normal mode?

John, It is the replacement module. With 8 degrees in the base and have 36 degrees total in normal mode while running under load, no knock mod and I'm using a snap-on advancing light and tape also. I thought I saw in a post you had that module also.

Yes, I do have that module. It seems high, but reset the base to 10 degrees, and idle to spec (650rpm), and check what you get for advance in base mode. Make sure you have a good ground when putting in base mode. Retest in normal mode, and see what voltage is at the pur/wht connector.

Was it pinging, or making some noise that led you to check the advance? or just installed it and testing?

If I reset the base to 10 will that not raise my total 2 more degrees in normal to 38,In Base the advance was moving about 20 degrees.

I am not sure because of the adaptive nature of the ignition. If it was thunderbolt IV, that would be true. Do it to spec and lets see what you get.

I forgot one of your answers, I was just checking it. It's running great ,I'll be down at the boat this weekend and will reset it to 10 in base and see what total time under load is.
